The development of a new medicine involves the discovery of a new drug followed by a long and extensive series of clinical trials to evaluate its effectiveness and safety. These trials, which are usually designed by biopharmaceutical companies in liaison with regulators such as the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), are then conducted by research doctors - commonly known as investigators - from around the world. Since investigators have direct control of patient enrollment and study operations, accessing the right investigators is critical to running high quality clinical trials in the fastest possible time, and at the lowest possible cost.

DrugDev.org was founded in 2009 to significantly reduce the cost of drug development by helping biopharmaceutical companies access the best investigators for their research from around the world, fast.

Unlike CROs and corporate affiliates that maintain lists of investigators that they contact by fax machine, we have changed the game by applying the latest social media techniques and technologies to consistently and efficiently transforms the drug development process...

• Instead of maintaining our own records for each investigator and their research staff, we let users maintain their own details - automatically checking-in with them to ensure that their details are up-to-date, and stepping in manually as needed.
• Instead of sending faxes, we communicate with all investigators and their research staff by email - we are able to send highly targeted communications in different languages, all coordinated centrally.
• Instead of relying on one or two performance statistics from one organization, we have built an intelligence network of over 1,468 CRAs from sponsors and CROs worldwide to provide feedback on investigators' recruitment capabilities, infrastructure and quality.
